The Village at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve

NEW VILLAGE LODGE OPENING 1 NOVEMBER 2017.   KIDS OF ALL AGES WELCOME.

OPENING SPECIALS TILL 14 DEC 2017 ~ VIEW ONLINE ~ SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY

Set against the backdrop of the Outeniqua Mountain Range, you will find the old farm village called Kleinvlei. The farm Kleinvlei was purchased in 2016 to form part of the 4200 ha Botlierskop Reserve and got his name as a result of all the swamps. It is located on the northern side of the Reserve very close to the historical Friemersheim that was originally a mission station and the site of the slave quarters for Great Brak River. The Village lodge consists of historicle and modern houses with some dating back to the 1800’s, which was renovated into 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms in a contemporary country-style interior. The houses can be booked by individual guests or by a group of guests traveling together.  The spacious rooms all have it's private entrace, private patio area with a view over the garden or the valley. The layout and design of the gardens was created around the “Watermollen” and “Perdedam” (Grootdrink of Dors) that were already on the Kleinvlei farm with a large dam as focal point and water slots flowing past the houses with vegetable gardens as well as herb gardens that supplies fresh vegetables and herbs to the Bellevue Restaurant. The Bellevue Restaurant at The Village was originally the old school and later served as a shop. One of the last pupils of the Bellevue school in 1938 said that Kleinvlei had one of the strongest athletics teams of all the rural schools. The lodge is child friendly and all ages are welcome.
The “perdedam” was a servitude dam used by transport riders, visitors to the smith store, shop, water mill, school children and peacekeepers. The large dam at Moordkuyl was originally the “perdedam” but was enlarged after 1976.
